Wrapping

Stretch film can be an ideal method of securing and protecting a palletized load because it continuously tries to contract back to its unstretched state. However, to prevent damage during shipment, three criteria must be met: (1) the shrink film must fully contain the product, (2) the load must be secured to the pallet and (3) the beginning and end of the stretch film must be secured.

To insure that the load arrives undamaged the film’s placement, applied containment force and pre-stretched levels must be controlled. Proper stretch wrapping techniques can be developed through load analysis testing on shaker tables and acceleration/deceleration sleds.
